    Here at Contemporary we absolutely love constructing underground living spaces that involve underpinning, piling, creating new retaining walls and just about everything else that will make your new space as amazing as you expect it to be. We offer the construction of new basements to existing properties or the bunkering and refurbishment of existing basements…Due to the nature of our work we can also cover drainage works, retaining walls and ground works too

    We provide a comprehensive and full service from start to finish. We engage with a great panel of Architects, structural engineers and party wall surveyors. Also, our operatives and project managers are very experienced and take pride in their work and the company as a whole which will ensure customer satisfaction. The client only needs to deal with us directly meaning your new basement can be delivered on schedule and at a price you can afford. As a design and build company we can offer our client’s variations to ensure we consider the budget at all times. However, If you have your own architect or structural engineer, we are happy to work alongside them.

  • Front Porch & Steps W5

    This pathway was broken, but now it’s beautiful…

    Another of our amazing repeated clients tasked us with resolving water leaking into the downstairs bathroom from the front porch above. While we fixed the damp issue, the client requested we also provide all new steps at the front of her home. And as you can see, the client chose a beautiful ocean green slate slab that we feel looks stunning now finished!

  • Sladedale road SE18

    When purchased, Sladedale road was a small two bedroom property in complete disrepair. To give an idea of what we had to work with we’ve attached some images below.

    Now that we have our hands on the property, it will soon become a contemporary three bedroom family home with a one bedroom basement apartment beneath. Both spaces will be practical and functional thus ensuring whoever purchases will be very happy in their new homes. To achieve our objective, the following works are currently being undertaken:

    • Full loft conversion with full height dormer
    • Full basement excavation to accommodate apartment space
    • Fabrication and implementation of steel frame to entirety of property to enable structural changes
    • New gas central heating system
    • Full electrical rewire with screw less sockets, USB charging ports and AAA+ rated lighting with 5 year “no bulb change guarantee”
    • Full rip out and reinstatement of floors and walls including insulation to external walls and under floors
    • Replacement of existing windows with new double glazed PVCu units
    • Reformation of internal walls and floors to enable a more functional living space
    • New kitchen implemented including fully integrated appliances
    • New bathroom with contemporary features such as no tap bath and automatic filler system
    • Rear garden refurbishment with professional landscaping and horticulture

  • Bespoke Engineered flooring

    The product implemented on this project was an 18mm oak floorboard, with a four oil finish implemented by hand to ensure the client got the exact colour and look they required. With over 90m2 of floor surface to cover, consistency was key on this particular project

  • Another stunning Kitchen!

    We are very proud to publish another of our stunning kitchens!

    Newly completed, this kitchen has been handled completely in house – We’ve measured, designed, supplied and fitted ensuring the client is getting exactly what they are looking for…

    On this project we’ve implemented a 20mm carcass, 25mm hand painted door to finish and Blum slow closers as standard. The project is completely integrated and because of our design experience, we managed to implement the following appliances with very little actually being on show:

    • 2 x integrated ovens
    • Integrated coffee machine
    • Integrated microwave
    • Integrated tall fridge freezer
    • Integrated washer dryer
    • Integrated dishwasher
    • 750mm 5 burner gas hob
    • Contemporary extractor fan with both external extraction and carbon filters
    • Contemporary wine cooler with extra features for red wine storage also
    • We even managed to integrate the boiler so not to spoil the overall finish!

    Partial renovation with two storey extension to rear…

    As a federation of Master Builders referral, we jumped at the opportunity to take Richard & Sally’s project on. We have to say the guys are amazing to work with and share our passion for improving a property, whilst respecting period features.

    The reward of this project is in the challenge of dealing with the technicalities of Sandyhill road – It’s sandy! Using Mantas and Remi’s extensive technical expertise, we’ve strengthened the foundation, excavated deeper and ensured that the neighbour’s wonky walls didn’t have an effect on Richard & Sally’s newly improved home. Now completed, our clients are very happy and feel well assured that they chose the right guys to transform their vision into a reality.

    Scope of works:

    • Full electrical rewire with screw less sockets, USB charging ports and AAA+ rated lighting
    • New gas central heating system
    • Deeper excavation to rear for foundation pour for footprint of new extension
    • Hi-Strength concrete pour to foundation footprint
    • Extensive underpinning to neighbour’s wall
    • Extensive crack stitching and repair work to neighbour’s wall
    • New build of structurally sound independent wall against neighbour’s property
    • Construction of double storey extension to rear including pitched roof with roof tiles to match local area
    • Electric Velux roof windows implemented to extension roof
    • Velux sun tunnel implemented to low light areas
    • Bespoke Hardwood windows with beautiful timber frame bi-fold door implemented
    • Window sills moulded and poured by hand on site to account for bespoke windows

     

  • Giving something back…Floyd Road SE7

    Structural rebuild with finishing of front porch and steps…

    87 year old Mr Boakes recently had a bad experience with some local tradesmen when having some work completed to the front of his house. Understandably this shook his confidence when looking for someone to put the work right. This was especially important as the previous tradesmen had affected the integrity of the steps and porch that led to his home.

    Fortunately Mr Boakes confided in a family member who is a lifetime friend with William at Contemporary…Upon hearing the issue, we immediately offered our services at cost price to ensure that Mr Boakes could have his property put right and his faith restored in the industry.

    Although the project was a not for profit endeavour, we ensured this project was completed to the highest standard, coming away with something more important than money! So much so that at the end of the project we rebuilt the lower window sill entirely and repainted the front of the house too!
